Everything's fine at the East Pole

You'd hardly know it broke at all.
Remember that broken porch with the snow load on it from last March?  Well it's almost fixed now. Jacked up and stabilized, sistered with a backing board and the new post in place. That's when I discovered I didn't have bolts long enough to go through two 2-bys and a 6x6.  So it goes.  It will hold until I can get back in there with 10-inch bolts.

I think i brought half the trail out with me.
Even though the roof is metal I have never heard rain on it.  For one thing there's a lot of insulation between me and the rain and for another it never rains that hard there, until this morning. At 5:30 a.m. it rained so hard it woke me up.  Wow never seen it like that.  Given that I had to come out today and the fact the trail was pretty muddy already, gave new anxiety to the trip.  Yet another Alaska adventure.  Check out the mud on the trailer.  I had to stop at a car wash on the way home to wash it all off.

I brought some things back I had been storing and plan to share some of it on here, so watch this space for exciting old adventures.

  1. When I was growing up we had thunderstorms all the time down here in Carolina. Never really bad but they would wake up anyone sleeping.

Its strange now, thunderstorms are far more rare now but when the do come its like Judgement Day.
