A new element showed up in the haphazard garden, first noticed today though it has probably been there longer. Somehow in the middle of the Godzilla geranium plant, a sunflower sprouted and grew at least to pygmy size and has a flower bud ready to bloom. I was careless with seeds, but I can't remember any sunflower seeds even getting outside as I started those indoors. Those are now more than six feet tall and this one is only about two, but it started from seed, outdoors and at least three weeks later than the others.
